SAS Automatic Strainer Filtration System

SAS Automatic Scraping Filtration System

The SAS Automatic Strainer is a motorized automatic self cleaning filter, providing continuous debris removal from fluid piping systems that require uninterrupted flow.
The SAS Automatic Strainer is particularly effective in high solid loading fluid applications that require continuous processing; basket strainers requiring manual maintenance are unable to meet these requirements.
When applied correctly, the SAS Self Cleaning Strainer is an efficient and cost effective solution compared to simplex/duplex strainers or other automatic straining systems.

Sequence of Operation

  1. Debris laden fluid enters through the vessel to the inner chamber.
  2. Dirty fluid flow upwards & outwards through the strainer element.
  3. Debris is retained on the flat surface of the strainer element, while strained fluid continues to the outer chamber and exits through a strainer outlet.
  4. During backwash or cleaning cycle, the motor/gear reducer is engaged, driving the hollow drive shaft and hollow port around the inner circumference of the strainer element.
  5. The backwash assembly is opened to atmospheric pressure by opening the backwash control valve.
  6. Flow reversal occurs at the port/straining element interface due to pressure difference.
  7. Debris is effectively vacuumed from the full length of the straining element by a vigorous reverse fluid flow into the hollow port.
  8. The hollow port continues to sweep the full length of the strainer element until the end of a cleaning cycle.
  9. The strainer provides continuous uninterrupted fluid flow during the cleaning operation.
  10. Cleaning cycles can be set for continuous or intermittent backwashing.
